2 Objectives
You are reading the work-in-progress of this report. This chapter is currently a dumping ground for ideas, and I don’t recommend reading it.
2.1 General Objective
The main objective of this work is to answer the following question through the development of an agent-based model:
How does anthropogenic climate change affect the health and nutrition of Brazilian children under five years old who are monitored in the Primary Health Care of Brazil’s public health system (SUS)?
2.2 Specific Objectives
- Perform a review of other agent-based models (ABMs) similar to the project to understand existing methodologies, findings, and gaps.
- Define and describe the model using the ODD + D (Overview, Design concepts, and Details + Decision) protocol as a guideline.
- Construct the agent-based model to simulate interactions between climate change variables and health outcomes, based on the previously developed causal model by Klapka, Vartanian, and Carvalho (2024).
- Validate the model with available data to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the simulations.
- Use the model to simulate different scenarios of climate change and health outcomes to understand the potential impacts on child nutrition.
